Commissions and Committees (Advisory Boards)

Advisory Boards, made up of individuals appointed by the City Council, provide guidance in determining how to meet the City’s needs. Cerritos currently has five commissions and two committees.

Applications Open for Service on Parks and Recreation Commission

For the Remainder of the Unexpired 2025 – 2027 Term

Cerritos residents are invited to submit their application for consideration to serve on the following Advisory Board:

  • Parks and Recreation Commission (1 seat*): Members advise the City Council and City staff in matters relating to parks and recreation facilities and programs.

Eligible, appointed individuals will serve a term through April 30, 2027. In accordance with the Guidebook for Elected and Appointed Officials, appointees will be required to participate in the 2026 L.E.A.D. Cerritos civic participation academy. Visit cerritos.gov/lead for more information about this program and program schedule.

To be considered for appointment to Cerritos Advisory Boards, an application must be submitted online or in person to the Office of the City Clerk. Though the application for service lists all Advisory Boards, a vacant position exists only on the Parks and Recreation Commission at this time. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
