Commissions and Committees (Advisory Boards)
Advisory Boards, made up of individuals appointed by the City Council, provide guidance in determining how to meet the City’s needs. Cerritos currently has four commissions and two committees.
Applications Open for Service on Senior Services Commission and City Celebrations Committee
For the Remainder of the Unexpired 2025 – 2027 Term
Cerritos residents are invited to submit their application for consideration to serve on the following Advisory Boards:
- Senior Services Commission (5 seats): Members assist by researching and recommending policies, programs, and services related to senior, accessibility, and disability needs.
- City Celebrations Committee (1 seat*): Members assist in the planning of community events, including the Festival of Friendship, Halloween Festival, Let Freedom Ring Celebration, Santa’s Sleigh Day at the CCPA, Spring Fling and Fireworks Spectacular, UbeFest, and Water Lantern Festival.

Eligible, appointed individuals will serve a term through April 30, 2027. In accordance with the Guidebook for Elected and Appointed Officials, appointees will be required to participate in the 2026 L.E.A.D. Cerritos civic participation academy. Visit cerritos.gov/lead for more information about this program and program schedule.
To be considered for appointment to Cerritos Advisory Boards, an application must be submitted online or in person to the Office of the City Clerk. Though the application for service lists all Advisory Boards, vacant positions exist only on the Senior Services Commission and City Celebrations Committee at this time. Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
