From the Mayor's Desk: June 19, 2026

A strong business climate supports economic opportunity and a high quality of life. When Cerritos businesses succeed, so does the City. As we lean into Strategic Plan Goal #4, Strengthen Economic Development, we are mindful of the value Cerritos businesses bring and the opportunities ahead. 

Cerritos offers a compelling case for businesses to invest here. As a no/low property tax city, Cerritos businesses are minimally impacted by property taxes beyond those collected by Los Angeles County. Add to that a central location between Los Angeles and Orange counties, and a highly educated, diverse workforce, and it is easy to see why companies of all sizes choose to call Cerritos home. Our strong business is also the result of deliberate policy choices and genuine partnerships. 

One of the best ways our City showcases that success is through our Business Spotlight program, which highlights long-time Cerritos businesses that have helped build our strong local economy. On June 22, my City Council colleagues and I will recognize VM Pharmacy as our latest Business Spotlight honoree. VM Pharmacy’s story reflects what so many of our local business owners tell us: that Cerritos’ supportive environment, central location, and engaged customers make it an ideal place to grow.

Cerritos businesses are valued and supported in their success, and we appreciate their contributions to our community. We are proud to share their stories not just with our residents, but with prospective businesses. As we implement our Strategic Plan goals, the City will continue supporting current and prospective businesses in reaching their full potential and thereby benefiting our entire community.
