City Council Approves Plans for LongHorn Steakhouse at Los Cerritos Center
Details
The Cerritos City Council has approved plans to bring a LongHorn Steakhouse restaurant to Los Cerritos Center as a new, standalone building.
LongHorn Steakhouse will occupy a 5,780-square foot, one-story building to be constructed along South Street near the existing Macy’s department store. The restaurant serves fresh, expertly crafted steaks and classic American food. The project calls for the conversion of an existing parcel into two separate parcels, accommodating both the new standalone restaurant and upgrades to the façade of the adjacent Macy’s. New landscaping and parking lot improvements are also planned.
“The addition of a great dining establishment in LongHorn Steakhouse supports the City’s Strategic Plan in attracting quality amenities and economic development opportunities,” said Mayor Lynda Provido Johnson. “We are excited for the enhanced experience that awaits our residents and visitors and thankful to project partner UGM Development LLC.”
Building construction is anticipated to commence in spring 2027, with potential opening of LongHorn Steakhouse in early 2028. The project’s approval by the City Council comes one month after it approved another large economic development project at Los Cerritos Center. DICK’S House of Sport will be located on the 4.65-acre site formerly occupied by Sears at the northern section of the shopping center. Construction of a new, 141,630-square-foot, two-story building is expected to begin later this year to house the retail and sports experience store.
