Statewide Primary Election is June 2: Information for Cerritos Voters

Voters in Cerritos and across California will soon be able to cast their ballots for the Statewide Primary Election on Tuesday, June 2. Beginning the week of May 4, all California active registered voters will be sent via U.S. mail a Vote-By-Mail (VBM) ballot from their county’s election authority.
In Cerritos, there are two official Los Angeles County Ballot Drop Boxes available at City facilities. Voters can deposit their sealed VBM ballots in marked boxes at the Cerritos Civic Center (18125 Bloomfield Avenue) and Cerritos Park East (13234 E. 166th Street). Sealed ballots can be deposited 24 hours a day, seven days a week and until 8 p.m. on Election Day. No postage is required. Drop Boxes are maintained and regularly serviced by authorized Los Angeles County personnel.
Important Dates
• Voting period: Monday, May 4 – Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 8:00 p.m.
• All California active registered voters will receive a VBM ballot for the Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Statewide Primary Election.
• Los Angeles County elections officials will begin mailing ballots by Monday, May 4, 2026.
• Secure ballot drop-off locations open on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
• Tuesday, June 2, 2026, is the last day to vote in person or return a VBM ballot, by 8:00 p.m. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election day. VBM ballots must be postmarked no later than June 2. If voting by USPS mail, voters are encouraged to send at least seven (7) days prior to election day.
• New postal regulations: Mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the Elections Official no later than seven days after election day, currently. A pending Supreme Court decision may amend this State law and could impact the June 2 Statewide Primary Election ballot processing. The allowance for receipt of mailed ballots after Election Day may be eliminated.
Additional Voter Information
• Ballots can be returned at a secure County VBM drop box, County vote center, County elections office, or returned by USPS mail (postage not required). Don’t forget to sign your VBM envelope.
• Electioneering is prohibited within the immediate vicinity of a person in line to cast their ballot or within 100 feet of the entrance of a polling place, curbside voting, or drop box.
• If you plan to return your ballot by mail, please mail it early.
• Cerritos voters may deposit their completed, signed, and sealed ballot into any official drop box in Los Angeles County.
• Ballot tracking is available through WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov, with automatic email, SMS (text), or voice notifications available.
