New Dial-A-Ride Features Coming in July

Details

Dial-A-Ride customers will soon have an alternative way to request rides. Beginning July 1, Dial-A-Ride participants will be able to book, manage, and track their Dial-A-Ride trips in real-time on the City's website or via the new Cerritos Dial-A-Ride app. This service is in addition to making phone reservations and cash payments, which will remain available.

Dial-A-Ride is a curb-to-curb transportation service for Cerritos residents with disabilities and seniors, age 55 or older. Passengers must register and receive City approval prior to utilization of the Dial-A-Ride program. Registration forms are available at cerritos.gov/dialaride.

Effective July 1, the service will be delivered by new provider MV Transportation. The contract with MV Transportation was approved by the City Council in April. The Tier 1 service area includes all of Cerritos, Artesia, and portions of La Palma and Norwalk, and will now reach destinations on both sides of the Tier 1 boundary streets. Tier 2 includes any medical facility and hospital within a 3-mile radius of Tier 1. Tier 3 includes approved medical facilities and hospitals outside of Tier 2 boundaries.

Beginning July 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 fares will increase slightly to $5 and $7, respectively, to better align with the cost of providing curb-to-curb service. Fares for trips within Tier 1 boundaries will remain unchanged at $1 each way.

In the coming days, City staff will be visiting the Cerritos Senior Center to inform residents of the new Dial-A-Ride features.
