Details
The Cerritos Library will host author and journalist Sam Quinones and writer Gustavo Arellano on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Skyline Room. The program will feature a conversation about Quinones’ first book of photojournalism, Our Lady of the Angels: The Virgin of Guadalupe on the Walls of Los Angeles, published by Angel City Press. Arellano, who wrote the book’s introduction, will moderate the discussion.
On storefronts, alleyways, and street corners throughout Los Angeles, murals of the Virgin of Guadalupe reflect the faith, identity, and culture of the city’s diverse communities. Through Quinones’ photographs, Our Lady of the Angels documents these urban altars and explores the intersections of spirituality, street art, and community. The collection takes readers on a visual journey through Los Angeles neighborhoods, where images of the Virgin have become enduring expressions of devotion, cultural identity, and a sense of place.
Following the conversation, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a Q&A. Books will be available for purchase at the program.
