Seventy years ago, our community took its first steps as an incorporated city. This Saturday, May 30, you’re invited to run or walk together as we mark this incredible milestone with the Cerritos 70th Anniversary 5K Run/Walk!
Whether you’re a seasoned runner or simply enjoy the outdoors, this event is for you. The Cerritos 5K Run/Walk is a non-competitive community celebration designed for individuals of all ages and fitness levels. Bring your family and friends to the Cerritos Sports Complex and “Moo-ve with the Herd” for a fun-filled morning that continues well beyond the finish line.
Registration remains open at runsignup.com/cerritos5k and can be done the morning of the race on-site. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. and the 5K kicks off at 8 a.m. Every registered participant will receive a commemorative t-shirt, a participation medal, chip timer, and a running bib; perfect keepsakes from this historic year. Stick around after the race for a health expo, food trucks, and a photo area. For those who’ve already registered, you can pick up your race packets today, May 29, at Heritage Park between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. or between 4 and 7 p.m.
I’m thankful to the staff in our Recreation Services Division and Public Works Department, and the collective contributions of our participants and community partners that made this event possible. The Cerritos 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and the Port of Long Beach. Trader Joe’s will be donating bananas and Kaiser Permanente will provide participants with colorful tote bags. Health Expo participants include 24-Hour Fitness, Body and Brain Cerritos, Carbon Health Urgent Care, Club Pilates, L.A. Fitness, Neaumix Fit, Planet Fitness, and Pressed Juicery.
Cerritos has always been a City that moves forward; with purpose, pride, and a strong sense of community. Let’s celebrate 70 years by moving together along the 5K Run/Walk path at the Cerritos Sports Complex this Saturday! I look forward to seeing you at the starting line.
