City Council Completes Third Budget Study Session
Details
The Cerritos City Council continued preparation of the 2026-2027 Fiscal Year Budget during its final Budget Study Session on June 8.
The City Council gave direction that it will proceed with a singular budget scenario in lieu of the dual budget option that was first presented as an option in March. This action removes the budget scenario that was projected to bring in additional annual revenue through a voter-approved Transactions and Use Tax (TUT). The single budget scenario that is moving forward assumes no new revenue and will include significant expenditure and service reductions to maintain fiscal sustainability.
Expenditure reductions will be finalized as part of the official adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget at the City Council's at its June 22 meeting. The new fiscal year begins on July 1.
