Cerritos Unveils Picnic Shelter at Frontier Park

Cerritos residents can enjoy upgraded amenities at Frontier Park following a ribbon cutting on August 10 to celebrate brand new infrastructure improvements. 

During the event, attendees viewed enhancements including the installation of a new picnic shelter, picnic tables, and energy efficient LED lighting. In addition, the unveiling also highlighted a new grill with two adjustable cooking grates and multiple height settings to serve both small and large groups of visitors.

Replacing a small, square wooden structure, the new shelter features a contemporary open pavilion style that spans 32 feet wide and approximately 12 feet high. The open-sided configuration emphasizes functionality, natural ventilation, and weather protection. Furthermore, the project also incorporated restored landscaping to match the existing Fescue grass and provides ADA accessible walkways.

''The City of Cerritos is proud of its beautiful parks with safe, wide open spaces for residents to come together," said Cerritos Mayor Lynda Provido Johnson. "We are excited to bring the new Frontier Park picnic shelter to Cerritos and hope it can serve as a place  for community gathering.” 

Frontier Park is located at 16910 Maria Avenue in Cerritos.
