Cerritos Library’s Summer Reading Program Turns 50

The community is invited to the Cerritos Library’s Summer Reading Program 50th Anniversary Celebration from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 21. 

The free celebration will include special programs for all ages and the event will take place outside of the main entrance of the library in the esplanade. Cerritos Library is located at 18025 Bloomfield Avenue. 

The event is generously supported by Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and the Friends of the Cerritos Library. The Summer Reading Program has encouraged thousands of children, teens, and adults to read during the summer and awarded those who completed the required reading with a new book of their choice and a custom tote bag. This year’s theme is “Reading is Always in Style.”

A list of activities taking place on June 21 will include the following while supplies last: 

Activities for Adults and Teens:

  • Bookmark Decorating
  • Mosaic Art
  • Rock Painting

Activities for Families:

  • Balloon Twisting
  • Caricatures
  • Drone Flying for Kids
  • Face Painting
  • Petting Zoo and Pony Walk
  • STEM Activities with STEMup4youth
