Details
The City of Cerritos invites the community to celebrate the dedication of Milking Time — A Tribute to Dairy Valley at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 at the Cerritos Civic Center. The City commissioned award-winning artist, Jane DeDecker, represented by the National Sculptor’s Guild, to create the artwork in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the City of Cerritos. Milking Time is a series of bronze sculptures that includes a farmer, his son and daughter, the family dog, and a cow named Bessie. The artwork reflects Cerritos’ agricultural roots and the enduring values of family and community, and it is fully funded through developer paid contributions to the City’s Art in Public Places Program.
The free event will feature City Council comments and a petting zoo with farm animals. Immediately following the dedication, the petting zoo will open and craft activities for children will be offered.
Milking Time Storytimes for youngsters will also be held in the Cerritos Library Skyline Room at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and no registration is required.
StoryCorps: Voices of Cerritos — A Celebration of 70 Years recorded interviews will be held by appointment in the Cerritos Library Board Room. For information about how to register for Voices of Cerritos, please visit library.cerritos.gov.
